DL: Real Cunt Shit [.zip]
Now that we’re half way through 2013, we think it’s safe to say that this is totally the year of the queer. Here at cjmilli.com, we’ve been focusing our efforts on simultaneously destroying #EDM and encouraging and promoting the growth of more forward thinking genres. This being said, we couldn’t be happier that the ballroom scene is growing in popularity, and that more and more producers are trying their hand at making ~vogue music~. For those of you who don’t even know wtf Vogue music is, here’s a little vogue-cabulary lesson taken from our first post on vogue music:
“Inspired by Vogue magazine, voguing is a modern house dance characterized by model-like poses integrated with angular, linear, and rigid arm, leg, and body movements. It was originally called “presentation” and later “performance.” Over the years, the dance evolved into the more intricate and illusory form that we now know as “vogue.” Although Madonna’s hit song “Vogue” brought voguing to the masses, it’s existed long before Miss Thing was even famous. In fact, voguing can be traced back to the ballroom scene of the 1960s where gay black men were running shit. This style of dancing has since spread to just about every major city of the U.S., and of course internationally.”
Sugur Shane and his pussy are two of our favorite things about vogue music right now. Since we value his opinion so highly, we asked mister Sugur Shane himself if he would be willing to share with us exactly what vogue music means to him. He so sweetly obliged, so here is a VIP except straight from #sugurshanespussy:
“Vogue music to me is minimal vocals with the ha crash. Well at least that’s what I think it means to most people. I think it’s crazy that there is even a such genre as vogue music. A person who excels at vogue can do it to any beat with no samples of “the ha”. I don’t think the scene is evolving at all actually; there’s just a spotlight on it right now. That spotlight will soon dim when the “kiki” legends bring this scene through a reality show. When I go to a ball it seems watered down with vogue fem. I don’t want to go to a ball to see one category for 2 hours. Nor do I want to see a so called legend get so much life when they are destroying the scene. ”
Divoli S’vere is a pioneer in vogue music. Here’s 3 tracks that we think are all perfect examples of what vogue music is/should be today, and where it is headed.
Nexxxt, we have a few vogue~influenced tracks from DomimatrixX (Myself, CJ Milli + Jay from WSS). We decided to take the free download of ‘Drive U HA’ down for now, but hit us up if you gotta have it! We also included a Divoli S’vere edit taken from our latest mixtape!
DomiMatrixx — Drive U HA (Stream only)
This track by up~and~cumming producer YNGN features vocal drops from your bb gurl CJ Milli!
Not 100% vogue cunty shit, but our bb Mike G incorporates some of the classic Vogue Elements in his “Trap Shore Ha.” This EP was released a few months ago on Inna Riddim Records.
CJ Milli turned 4 years old today! We hope that over the past few years you’ve enjoyed our little corner of the cyber realm as much as we have. :) To celebrate, CJ Milli has handpicked for you a few x~tra special tracks that didn’t quite seem to fit in any of our genre~basedposts. Enjoy bbs!
